Indoor Environment
Research shows that quality indoor environment benefits children developing secure attachments, as well as their cognitive skills, creativity and critical thinking. Our indoor environment has been deliberately designed to maximise the use of natural light and to separate noisy and quiet areas.
Our indoor environment encourages children to develop their knowledge and skills through play by immersing them in a variety of experiences of their interests and choices.
Dramatic Play Area—Dramatic play is an excellent means for children to develop their creativity and imagination. Dramatic play allows children to exercise their special, instinctive ways of dealing with reality. Dramatic play develops self-confidence, self-control, delay in gratification, making sense of real world, negotiation and communication skills, understanding symbols, etc.
Block Corner—Children learn best through hands-on experiences, and block play is a valuable part of cognitive development in young children. Block play develops problem-solving skill, awareness of spatial terminology and perception of space, concepts of size, concepts of number, matching and sorting, socializing and cooperating with peers, etc.
Creative Area—Creativity is a process that encompasses all we do, including art and music. It is a skill that must be built and nurtured. Creative activities enhance communication skills, thinking skills, sensory experiences, aesthetic development, observation skills, cultural values, science and math concepts, etc.
Literacy Area—It is essential to help children build strong foundations for both learning to read and reading to learn in the years before formal schooling. By engaging children in experiences that foster oral language and content knowledge, literacy skills and thinking, early childhood professionals help secure children’s later academic success.
Manipulative Corner—Manipulative learning involves learning by using hands and fingers to touc, grasp, carry, twist, take apart, put together, attach things to each other, feel through touching, develop eye-hand coordination, operate tools, expand on self-help skills, and become more independent and self-confident in one’s abilities.
Emotional Corner—Emotional corner is a comfortable and calming space for children to go when they need some space, to calm down their bodies, and to take a time-in to process their big feelings. Children learn to recognise their feelings and regulate their emotions in a safe space.
Cognitive Area– Cognitive development means how children think, explore and figure things out. It is the development of knowledge, skills, problem solving and dispositions, which help children to think about and understand the world around them. We provide puzzles, board games, card games to support children’s reasoning, memory, problem-solving, and thinking skills.
