Nature Play and Sustainability

Nature provides countless opportunities for discovery, creativity, problem-solving, and STEM education. Interacting with natural environments allows children to learn by doing and experiment with ideas. In nature, children think, question, and make hypotheses — thereby developing inquisitive minds.

Morning Buds places a high value on nature play. Nature, we believe, brings out the best in children by keeping their minds active and alert to changing conditions. Children can and should adapt to changing conditions such as uneven surfaces, heights, and new textures, as well as devise creative solutions to these challenges.

Natural materials are easily accessible and encourage children to learn about nature. We use natural materials as an integral element of our programs. We use loose parts such as twigs, leaves, shells and sand, which benefit children’s early years experiences by stimulating their creativity and imagination.

Morning Buds strives for sustainability by empowering children to build knowledge, explore values, and develop an appreciation for the environment and its relationship to their worlds. This lays the groundwork for an environmentally conscious adulthood.
