School Readiness
Our School Readiness program is to prepare children for the transition to school both socially and academically. Our highly qualified educators will use intentional teaching to prepare children to transfer from EYLF to the six key learning areas throughout the primary years: Creative arts, English, Human society and its environment (HSIE), Mathematics, Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE), Science and technology.
Throughout the transition period, we also support children’s social and emotional skills, which are required for the large group environment of primary school. We strive to strengthen each child’s sense of identity, confidence, self-esteem, and emotional resilience. We encourage self-help skills. We encourage children to wonder, question, think and build understandings of their world. We encourage children to make and retain friendships. We encourage children to take risks and face challenges in a positive way.
We will also be offering library days where children are encouraged to prepare their library bags, borrow books from our service and are encouraged to read with their families. Towards the end of early childhood education and children prepare to enter primary school, we will organise picnics and invite the children to bring their own lunchboxes so they can practise opening and closing them, as well as eating their own food.
